The Sunday SHITSHOW - Episode 16

Welcome back to The Sunday SHITSHOW! Episode 16 was packed with incredible stories, heartfelt moments, and a mix of surf culture, music, and advocacy. Geltchy and Stu were thrilled to host special guest Serena Brooke, a legend in the surfing world, as she shared her incredible journey and recent triumphs.

Serena Brooke: A Champion in and out of the Water

Fresh off her trip to El Salvador, Serena Brooke joined the couch with a silver World Surfing Masters Medal and a bronze for Australia under her belt. This Queensland-based icon has done it all: from her illustrious 14-year career on the World Surf League to mentoring young surfers and making a difference as a surf coach and charity worker—all while raising a family.

Nicknamed "Sauce" (thanks to her love for tomato sauce), Serena reminisced about her trailblazing days, like winning the Billabong Pro Australia title and holding a temporary #1 overall ranking in 2001. With two runner-up finishes on the World Championship Tour, Serena remains an enduring symbol of the evolution of women’s surfing.

In this episode, she opened up about the making of Blue Crush, life on the competitive tour, and her perspective on the current state of professional surfing. Serena’s passion and insight are as inspiring as her accolades, reminding us why she’ll always be an icon in the sport.
