THE SUNDAY SHITSHOW
SEASON 3 | EPISODE 14
The Sunday SHITSHOW | Season 3, Episode 14, Best coffee Sunshine Coast isn’t something that you just mindlessly scroll past — it’s a standard, and this episode we’re chasing it with Ian Harrison from Wagtail Coffee (Yaroomba, QLD). Stu and Geltchy get into what actually makes a great cup (beans, rest time, grind, humidity, milk and consistency), then swing hard into speedway scars, punk picks, surf talk and the raw local culture that keeps the Sunshine Coast scene alive. Watch the full episode, grab the playlist, and if you’re anywhere near Yaroomba, hit Wagtail and taste what “best” looks like when it’s done properly.
Best Coffee Sunshine Coast? Wagtail (Yaroomba) + Speedway Scars + Punk Picks
Hey legends. If you’re into surfing, skateboarding, street art, punk and hardcore, and the kind of Australian street machine chat that doesn’t get sanded down for brand deals — you’re home.

And if you’re here because you’ve been hunting the best coffee the Sunshine Coast has to offer, same. Because this week we’ve got Ian Harrison from Wagtail Coffee Shop in Yaroomba, QLD on the lounge with Stu + Geltchy, and the bloke doesn’t just make coffee — he lives the craft like it’s a contact sport.
The Sunday SHITSHOW – Season 3, Episode 14 is live on YouTube.
This one’s a proper local culture mash-up: coffee craft, speedway scars, punk picks, surf talk, and community love for the people who actually back the scene.
What this episode’s about (no fluff)
Ian’s the kind of bloke who can talk coffee like a technician and speed like someone who’s paid for it in screws and hospital time.We get into:
- Wagtail Coffee’s origin story: coffee cart days, markets, then building the shop into what it is now
- What actually makes a good cup of coffee (and why “fresh roasted” doesn’t automatically mean better)
- Why consistency matters: grind, gear, humidity, milk quality, and paying attention all day
- Ian’s speedway days: bikes with no brakes, no gears, methanol, track records, and the injuries that come with living sideways
If you’re Sunshine Coast local — or you travel up here chasing swell, gigs, or car meets — you’ll recognise the vibe. It’s that mix of work, craft, and chaos that keeps subculture alive. And yeah, we’re saying it straight: the “best coffee” isn’t just about a fancy menu board or latte art for Instagram. It’s the boring, obsessive stuff done properly, every day, when no one’s clapping.
The Best Coffee Sunshine Coast isn’t a list — it’s a standard
People ask “where’s the best coffee on the Sunshine Coast?” like it’s a trophy you hand to one café and call it done.
But listening to Ian, it’s more like a standard you keep earning. It’s beans that get treated with respect. It’s knowing that humidity can mess with your grind. It’s dialling things in, then dialling them in again. It’s using decent milk. It’s caring when the rush hits, and you’re five orders deep, and someone wants to act like a flat white is a personality test.
That’s why Wagtail in Yaroomba matters in this conversation. Not because we’re trying to crown kings — but because the place is built on the kind of detail that actually makes a coffee shop worth returning to.If you’re the type who’s driven across the Coast for a wave, a show, or a car meet… you already understand the mission. You don’t do it for convenience. You do it because the good stuff is the good stuff.
Punk Picks: your SHITSHOW soundtrack this episode
We hit Music Picks like we always do, and this episode’s got a proper spread — proper Aussie cult stuff, proper weird, and a bit of UK left-field chaos.
Ian: RATCAT – “That Ain't Bad”
Sydney legends. If you grew up anywhere near a radio in the 90s, you’ve heard Ratcat — jangly guitars, big hooks, and that sunny-but-slightly-feral Aussie alt-rock vibe. “That Ain't Bad” is one of those tracks that still hits like a warm beer in a carpark: loud, simple, and impossible not to sing along to.
Stu: THE MEANIES – “10% Weird”
Melbourne’s finest noise merchants. The Meanies have always lived in that sweet spot between punk, garage rock and pure chaos — fast, scrappy, and somehow tight at the same time. “10% Weird” is exactly what it sounds like: driving riffs, unhinged energy, and the kind of song that makes you want to kick a dent into the floor of the van on the way to a gig.
Geltchy: THE SKINNER BROTHERS – “Apex Predator”
UK crew bringing that modern edge — punk attitude with rap cadence, drum & bass bounce, and a big, stompy “something’s about to kick off” feel. “Apex Predator” is a hype track: sharp delivery, heavy rhythm, and the sort of tune that belongs in a skate edit, a late-night workshop session, or blasting while you’re loading boards and gear with zero sleep.
If you’re building playlists for the shed, the surf check, the drive to a show, or the late-night paint session, these are worth a spin.

Why you should watch the full episode
Because it’s not a highlight reel. It’s the full yarn.
You get the details: how a shop survives, how a craft gets dialled, how speedway chews people up, and how local scenes stay alive when people actually support each other.
If you’re into punk, surf, skate, street art, alternative culture, custom cars, and the real stories behind the people doing the work — go watch it.
If you’re still on the hunt for the best coffee Sunshine Coast can serve up, don’t just scroll lists. Pull up somewhere that’s doing it properly. If you’re near Yaroomba, start at Wagtail.
