The Sunday SHITSHOW - Episode 13 | Hanging Out with Russell from 7FT SOOKS!

On this episode of The Sunday SHITSHOW, Stu & Geltchy hit the lounge with a special guest: Russell from the Sunshine Coast punk legends, 7FT SOOKS! Known for their hard-hitting, high-energy live shows and infectious songs, Russell dives into the band’s origin, inspirations, and the real magic of their unique brand of punk rock.

Russell from 7FT SOOKS - Nursery Rhymes for Adults

Russell shared his musical journey, starting as a roadie in Sydney, where he was first captivated by the raw energy of punk bands. He describes the 7FT SOOKS' music as "Nursery Rhymes for Adults"—fun, catchy riffs with stories inspired by everyday life. From the euphoria of performing live to the challenges of finding good venues, Russell opens up about what it’s like to be part of a local punk staple. Despite the lack of suitable spots for gigs, they keep the fire burning with memorable, high-energy performances that celebrate community and a good time.

LH-LX Torana Artwork Winner Announcement

Geltchy announced the winning car in the recent LH-LX Torana Car Artwork Giveaway—and it's a huge congrats to @23kyri and his stunning blue Torana! The lucky voter, @savanna.file, also took home a signed & numbered art print. Big props go out to @holden_cartel for collaborating and sharing all the amazing car entries. Thanks to everyone who took part!

Upcoming Sunny Coast Festivals You Can't Miss!

The summer sun is on the way, and so are some epic festivals on the Sunshine Coast! Geltchy laid down some must-see events:

What's On Our Playlist?

Geltchy: "I Am Horror" by Captives
A melodic, scream punk track from Melbourne—Geltchy’s pick will leave you buzzing with adrenaline.

Russell: "Ruby" by One More Billy
This Sunny Coast punk track is fast and full of punch—Russell knows how to pick 'em! Honorable mentions also go to The Donnas and local favorites Gudgeon.

Stu: "Diamonds & Guns" by Transplants
A punk rock supergroup featuring Rancid's Tim Armstrong, Blink 182’s Travis Barker, and former roadie Rob Aston. Stu takes us back with this classic, and we can't help but sing along.

Surf Talk: The WSL Format—Are We Missing the Hype?

As usual, the crew couldn’t resist a good surf discussion. This week, they tackled the WSL's current format. With the tour ending almost mid-year, it seems we’re missing out on the traditional excitement of crowning champions in Hawaii. The lack of a proper climactic finish has left a gap, and the stoke just isn’t quite the same. Will we ever return to the glory days of epic finales at Pipeline?

Fresh Off the Press: SACRIFICE Industries HADES T-Shirt & Campout Tees

Geltchy gave us a first look at the new SACRIFICE Industries HADES T-Shirt in sleek black and white—this one's going to be a must-have. He also cleared up some confusion around the Bargara Beach Campout 2024 entrant T-Shirts. They’ll be ready for collection at the Bundaberg event, happening October 4-6, presented by Rum City Rods and Customs Bundaberg. It’s an annual favorite, and we’re expecting this year to be bigger and better than ever!

Also, because we love our Shitshow viewers and listeners, Geltchy is throwing in a 20% Discount for these products. Just use the code SHITSHOW at checkout.

Shoutout To An Underdog

Geltchy: A huge shoutout to the 7FT SOOKS, especially their track "Chiko Roll". How this isn’t an Aussie anthem is beyond us!

Russell: Russell gave props to the current petition circulating Noosa, which aims to bring more live music to the area. Support local music and help get more bands on stage!

Stu: SRH Clothing is Stu’s underdog shoutout this week, keeping the scene alive against the big boys and repping the punk culture like no other.
