Round 5 Highlights from Yaroomba Boardriders - June 15, 2024
Hey Yaroomba surf crew!
Round 5 of the Yaroomba Boardriders went down on June 15 at our beloved Stop Rock, and what a day it was! We kicked things off on a chilly morning, but as the sun warmed up, so did the action in the water. The conditions were classic Stop Rock: small but clean waves with light offshore winds making it perfect for some solid performances.
We missed our female warriors this round—hope they’re back for the next one. Maybe those brisk winter mornings are keeping them bundled up at home. Let’s send some warm vibes their way and we hope to see them shredding in July!
Here’s the breakdown of how the heats unfolded:
Opens Division: Fabs Flies to Victory
In the Opens, Zach “Fabs” McCallum put on a clinic, showing why he's a force to be reckoned with. His smooth, stylish rides and sharp turns were too much for the rest of the field. Jacki “Jax” Green gave it her all and made it a tight contest, but Fabs was on fire and took home the win.
Juniors: Archie Wallace Dominates
Young gun Archie Wallace was in fine form, taking the top spot in the Juniors. He read the waves perfectly, linking turns effortlessly and proving he's one to watch for the future. Archie’s flair and precision earned him a well-deserved victory.
Over 40’s: Walzy Wins Big
In the Over 40’s, it was a showdown between Walzy and T.P. Walzy brought his A-game, blending experience and technique to edge out T.P. in a close heat. The seasoned surfer showed he’s still got the moves and claimed the win with some impressive rides.
Over 50’s: Johnny Green Crushes It
Johnny Green was untouchable in the Over 50’s division. He was in a league of his own, picking off the best waves and executing with finesse. Johnny’s dominance was clear as he left the rest of the field in his wake, cruising to an easy victory.
