DISORDER (WAKE UP)
THE MEFFS
The Meffs Disorder Wake Up tears into the Essex punk duo’s latest single — scuzzy guitar tone, snap-tight drums, and a no-bullshit chorus calling out borders, clickbait, and the lies used to turn working people against each other. Get the brutally honest breakdown of the lyrics, vocals, production, meaning, and why this track is a warning shot ahead of their upcoming album Business.
The Meffs Disorder Wake Up review
If you’re looking for subtlety, go listen to elevator jazz. The Meffs just dropped “Disorder (Wake Up)” and it’s punk doing its actual job: grabbing you by the collar, rattling your teeth, and screaming the obvious truth you’ve been trained to ignore. This The Meffs Disorder (Wake Up) review is for anyone sick of manufactured outrage and headline-fed brain rot.
Quick facts
Artist: The Meffs (Essex, UK)

Genre + sound
Call it modern UK punk with teeth — part street-level hardcore urgency, part pub-punk stomp, part post-’77 snarl. The production is clean enough to punch, dirty enough to bleed. Nothing’s hiding behind studio perfume. Lily Hopkins’ guitar tone is pure scuzz-and-spark: gritty, mid-forward, abrasive in the right places — like a speaker cone that’s been through a few wars but still refuses to die. The riffs don’t overcomplicate it; they weaponise simplicity. Lewis Copsey’s drumming is the engine: tight, urgent, no wasted motion. It’s that “keep up or get trampled” kind of playing — the exact heartbeat this track needs.
Vocals + lyrics (the point of the whole thing)
Lily’s voice is the star because it sounds like a real person with real anger — not a brand, not a character. There’s bite in the delivery, but also clarity. You can hear the message. The lyric sheet reads like a headline collage from a world set on fire by suits and then blamed on everyone else. It opens with “WORLD ORDER, DISORDER / ANOTHER BOMB DROPPED ON THE BORDER” and doesn’t let up. Barbed wire. Borders. Hunger-by-design. Clickbait brain melt. Refugees and immigrants are scapegoated while millionaires point and laugh.
The chorus is the thesis:
“WAKE UP, WAKE UP / WHO’S YOUR ENEMY?”“IT’S NOT YOU, NOT ME.”
That’s the whole scam: keep working people fighting each other so nobody looks up at the people doing the robbing.
The Meffs Disorder Wake Up lands on one simple truth — the enemy isn’t your neighbour.
The Band
The Meffs are Lily Hopkins (vocals/guitar) and Lewis Copsey (drums/backing vocals): a DIY Essex punk duo with a reputation for frantic live energy and songs that don’t flinch. Final word? Play it loud, then ask yourself again: who’s your enemy?
The Meffs Disorder Wake Up says it straight — it’s not you, it’s not me.
The Verdict
“Disorder (Wake Up)” is a short, sharp shock to the system — loud, pissed, built for shouting, and politically switched on without turning into a lecture. If this is the temperature of Business, the album is going to be a problem (the good kind).
